When You Dream Out Loud
“Harlem,” by Langston Hughes describes who I am. Someone that once deferred his dreams and it became a heavy load. Days when I sagged on jobs not being fulfilled, but going through the motions because that is what I was taught. Go to school, get an education and then get a job. Never was I told to dream out loud. Never was I asked did I dream and who did I want to become.
I grew up in what society calls a broken home. For many years I thought I was broken too. That was furthest from the truth! I was whole and my life wasn’t typical, but it was mine. It wasn’t an excuse to give up or quit.
Our Deepest Fears, an introspective poem by Marianne Williamson was integral part in helping me stay the course on my path of Evolution. I learned to FACE MY FEARS! We must all travel this road. The road that forces you to come face to face with the very things you would normally seek to avoid. It was one of the hardest task that I ever had to do, but when I did I woke up on purpose. I started moving with a purpose. I started LIVING a purpose-filled life!
